La película se escribió sola. El tiempo la escribió. Desde que te conocí en Buenos Aires en 1988, hasta la última vez que nos vimos, hace poco tiempo, en tu casa de Santiago de Chile. Siempre recuerdo aquella vez que cenábamos en Taiwán debatiendo tu cultura, la mía, nuestra amistad y nuestras diferencias. Con este poema te agradezco haberte metido en mi vida cuidando a la gente que yo quería y que dejaba, tambièn en aquella ciudad y el mismo año. Recuerdo todos esos años cuando viviste en Buenos Aires cuidando a mi madre y a mi hermana, y después cuando te fuiste a Chile. Te agradezco haberme dejado llegar a tu familia y a tu mundo. Haber estado cerca de tu hermano Martin, de tus padres y hermanos . Y este poema es también, la manera de reconocer todo lo que construimos durante estos 30 años. Mi querido Toni, mi querido Tsay Ruey Tong, esto lo escribí poniendo todo mi corazón sobre la mesa.
Como siempre, desde nuestra distancia y cerca de vos.

Para un buen amigo

Para Toni, Escrito a mis 59 años.

Empiezo mirando tu historia
tan particular, tan extraordinaria.


Regreso en el tiempo, que es mucho,
y recuerdo tu fuerza incansable,
tu trabajo duro, tu bondad infinita,
tu lucha tan ciega y tu mundo distinto.


Pasaban los años,
tu lado y mi lado quedaban lejanos
más siempre estuvimos al lado,


Entraste en mi mundo que no era tu mundo.
Entraste en mi gente cuando los dejaba,
haciendo feliz, a quien te tuviera en su mesa.
Dejabas tu marca de persona buena,
de hombre buscando su propio destino.
De hermano postizo, de hijo generoso.


Te miro ya hombre, me siento feliz de observarte.
Que estés con nosotros, de estar con ustedes.
Y el mundo de nuevo se achica,
sonríe y se llena de dicha.


Se siente la magia en la buena vida,
se siente confianza en la buena gente.


Ya son treinta años, mi querido amigo de estar dando vueltas
buscando destinos. El tuyo y el mio: distintos caminos.
De todas maneras, como siempre hicimos
contarás conmigo y contaré contigo.


Corazón abierto es el tuyo, ni el tiempo lo cambia.
Corazón atento es el mio gozando tus logros.


Si algo te faltara, o algo me faltara,
si algo nos faltara o algo les faltara
seguro estaremos, como siempre estamos,

The movie was written by itself. Time wrote it. Since I met you in Buenos Aires in 1988, until the last time we met, recently, at your home in Santiago de Chile. I always remember that time we had dinner in Taiwan discussing your culture, mine, our friendship, and our differences. With this poem I thank you for jumping into my life, taking care of the people I loved and left, also in that city and in the same year. I remember all those years when you lived in Buenos Aires taking care of my mother and my sister, and then when you went to Chile. I thank you for introducing me to your family and enter into your world. Having been close to your brother Martin, your parents and siblings. And this poem is also, the way to recognize everything we built during these 30 years. My dear Toni, my dear Tsay Ruey Tong, I wrote this placing my whole heart on the table.

For Toni, Written at my 59 years old.

I start seeing your story,
Very particular, very extraordinary.
